A walk in shower enclosure is a must have for any modern bathroom with enough space. The modern design provides a definite wow factor in your bathroom for you and your guests to enjoy. The larger space and the easy access are more than enough reasons to choose this shower solution, as well as the luxury feel of open space it offers.

Read on for some tips on how to best clean your walk in shower enclosure to keep it looking new for longer. Depending on the surfaces you have chosen for your bathroom walls and floors you may need to adjust your cleaning methods.

Cleaning porcelain tiles

Regular porcelain tiles are probably one of the easiest floors to clean and don’t require any special detergents or methods. All you need to do is sweep up any dust or debris on the floor, particularly on the grout lines. Then mop the tiles with a commercial tile cleaner, or a solution of white vinegar, washing up liquid and water (such as one cup vinegar, one gallon of water, and a teaspoon of dish soap). The key trick to avoid streaks and residue after cleaning tiles is to go over the tiles with a clean damp mop or cloth as this will remove any soap lingering on the surface and make your tiles sparkle.

Cleaning natural stone tiles

If you have selected natural stone tiles for walls and floors you need to be a little more careful about what cleaning agents you use. Often, natural stone has a very soft surface and can easily scratch or be damaged by stains. Try dry mopping and vacuuming often, as well as investing in a recommended natural stone cleaner. Remember to not use lemon, bleach or vinegar on any natural stone tiles as these cleaning agents can seriously damage them.

Cleaning the shower head

Keeping the shower head clean will help sustain water pressure and leave your shower looking new for longer. Unfortunately, white build-up can form on the shower head, particularly in hard water areas, and not only look unappealing, but also cause the water pressure to decrease. The easiest way to solve this is so dissemble the shower head, and if possible remove the shower head cover, place it in a bowl and fill the bowl with white vinegar until it covers the shower head. Leave it to soak for 20 minutes and brush away the grime – an old toothbrush works really well for this. Replace the shower head again once it’s clean.

Cleaning glass panels

The glass panels are probably the most characteristic feature of the modern walk in shower enclosures, and possibly the easiest to clean as well because of their smooth surfaces. A really simple way to clean your glass panels and make them shine it to use white vinegar, water and some old newspapers…here’s how you do it. Make up a vinegar and water solution with one part vinegar and three parts water. Use the mixture to clean the panels with a cloth, preferably a lint-free cloth. Before the solution dries, buff the panels with crumpled newspaper for that final shiny finish.

All that is left to do now is to enjoy the walk in shower enclosure and keeping on top of the cleaning with these simple tips.
