TOOL HIRE - HOW MUCH ?
Tool hire shops are invaluable when it comes to the larger DIY projects, tools for home DIY can be purchased at a reasonable cost and there are many DIY stores in which to compare prices and get the best deal .
Some equipment and power tools may only be required for one off jobs and as they can be very expensive to purchase its worth a trip to the local tool hire shop.
Below are guide prices for hiring various tools and equipment to help you budget for your DIY project, please remember almost all tool hire shops will require bank / credit card details or a cheque (which will be returned once they have the hire tool back in good condition) to cover loss or damage of the tool.
1. Alloy extension ladders - 3.5 mtr Double - 1 day £15 - £20. Weekend £18 - £25.
2. Alloy platform stepladders - 1.7 mtr - 1 day £12 - £16. Weekend £15 - £20.
3. Full size alloy scaffold tower - 6mtr - 1 day £75 - £90. Weekend £100 - £120.
Items 1, 2 and 3 can be hired made of non conductive material if there is an electrical risk. Add 20 - 30% . All scaffold towers should come with instructions on how to erect and use it correctly and safely.
4. Plate vibrator (compacting hardcore / screed) - 1 day £25 - £30. Weekend £30 - £40.
5. Concrete mixer 240 volt - 1 day £10 - £15. Weekend £15 - £20.
6. Power trowel petrol (finishing large concrete areas) - 1 day £42 - £50. Weekend £50 - £60.
7. Floor tile remover 110 volt - 1 day £35 - £40. Weekend £45 - £55.
8. Demolition hammer 240 volt (breaking up walls etc) - 1day £22 - £28. Weekend £30 - £40.
9. Heavy duty breaker 240 volt (breaking up concrete etc) - 1 day £40 - £50. Weekend £54 - £60.
10. Cut off saw petrol (for cutting metal or masonry) - 1day £23 - £28. Weekend £30 - £36.
11. Bench tile saw 240 volt - 1 day £20 - £25. Weekend £26 - £32.
12. Crosscut and mitre saw 110 volt - 1 day £42 - £48. Weekend £52 - £60.
13. Wallpaper steam stripper 240 volt - Weekend £20. 1 week - £31.
Please remember all safety equipment when using any of these tools or working at height. All safety equipment can be hired from tool shops but because of its relatively low price you may wish to purchase your own for future DIY projects.
