BUYING TOOLS ONLINE FROM eBay
I have purchased lots of tools from sellers on Ebay over recent years, I always try and buy named brands such as Dewalt, Bosch and Stanley etc. Although other brands are probably good value for money I would rather spend a little more knowing the tools will give me many years of service.
You can save an awful lot of money but always remember to check the sellers feedback from previous customers, it should be as near as possible to 100% positive feedback so you know that you are buying from a reputable seller.
Don’t purchase the first item you see in the listings, spend a little time comparing costs such as postage etc, if you have a make and model / reference number, key these details in to make the comparisons easier. As an example I decide I want to purchase a Dewalt DW087K laser level, currently at the time of this post there are 9 for sale and the price difference between new in the box ones is around £52, that’s a big difference especially if your DIY job is on a tight budget.
I always make my purchases using the Paypal system as I believe this is the most secure method of payment and according to the Paypal information on Ebay your purchase is fully protected. It is easy to register with Ebay and then Paypal and it can save you money not only on tools but hundreds of household items and gifts. I have made around 200 purchases from Ebay over the years and have only once been disappointed with the goods when received, I didn’t read the ad properly and only realised later the item was being sent from Hong Kong and it was a cheap copy, needless to say it was a low value purchase and I won’t make the same mistake again.
