DRAUGHT PROOFING DOORS
Tools required :- Sharp knife or scissors, power or battery drill, pilot drill bit, junior hacksaw, file and small to medium screwdrivers.
Reducing draughts helps to keep your home that bit warmer and helps lower your energy bills.
Most DIY stores sell rolls of self adhesive foam for draught proofing doors, you simply stick the strip of draught excluding foam on the inside of the door casing and cut it to length with a sharp knife or scissors. Sometimes you get the added bonus of the door closing quieter as the foam acts as a cushion between the door and frame.
Brush strips are another good way of keeping out unwanted draughts from the bottom of your doors. Cut the strip to length and if it is made from aluminium file smooth the rough edge and then attach it to the bottom of the door with screws, the brush should be touching the floor. Drill pilot holes for the screws in the door so they don’t snap off when you screw them in.
On front doors don’t forget the letterbox, again there are brush strips for these too.
