LIVING ROOM WALLPAPER DECORATION IDEAS

Every so often, there comes a time when you need to refresh a tired and outdated living room decor. As much as many people would love to just leave their living rooms as they are for many years or even decades, living rooms tend to get worn and tatty-looking after a while because they are one of the most used rooms in any home.

For example, walls will start to get marked, carpets start to develop stains that cannot be removed, and furniture can sometimes get damaged accidentally. These are just some of the reasons why many of us have to renovate our living rooms from time to time. If this time has come for you, one of the questions you might be asking yourself is whether you should paint your walls or get some nice wallpaper for it.

This is something of a subjective decision, but personally I prefer wallpaper because not only can you get some really awesome-looking designs but it is great for hiding any imperfections in walls. Let’s face it; there are going to be many in a living room, and it’s much cheaper to wallpaper your living room than to get it reskimmed by a plasterer!

If you are thinking of using wallpaper for your living room makeover, here are some wallpaper decoration ideas for you:

There is a growing trend for people to have bare brick walls in rooms in their homes. Not only does it give a room character, but it saves in decorating costs. But if you don’t fancy removing plaster from your walls, then you could always opt for the next best thing - brickwork wallpaper!

Retro Wallpaper

An interesting interior design trend is the retro revolution. Many homes now have a retro-looking living room, albeit with the best designs from the 1960s and 1970s, rather than the ones that everyone would rather forget!

Those epochs were all about bold and contrasting colours, and the wallpaper designs in the example above show just one of hundreds, if not thousands of different colour combinations for retro wallpaper.

Sometimes it’s nice to have wallpaper that makes a bold impact in your living room, and one such example is the floral wallpaper above. Granted it’s not going to be to everyone’s tastes, but it certainly helps to brighten and cheer up any living room!

Music Equipment Wallpaper

If you know what a cassette tape is, then you are old enough to know about or remember the days of analogue music equipment when portable electronic keyboards were enjoyed by the masses instead of virtual keyboards, vinyl records were the norm instead of digital media, and people had ghetto blasters instead of MP3 players!

This music equipment wallpaper is the perfect addition to the living room of anyone that plays musical instruments, is a DJ or just loves the analogue days of old! When styling your living room with such wallpaper, you should consider complementing it with some cool sofas, such as those from the Chesterfield Company.
