Taking on a complete home renovation is a monumental task. Blogging about the process is time consuming, but it’s also a great way to share/record your progress, inspire others and connect with like-minded people.
Here’s a list of some interesting home renovation blogs we recently found. Sadly, only some of them are regularly updated, but that doesn’t mean the ones that aren’t can’t provide you with ideas and tips. We’re quite happy to expand this list, so please let us know if you run a home renovation blog or you want to nominate your favourite.
Simply The Nest
Alice and her husband Andre are renovating a huge Victorian semi built in 1875 in South Manchester.
They moved into the property in 2012, but delayed the renovation work for more than a year so they could understand how the house works through each season. They also wanted to ensure they could employ the services of their chosen architect before finally getting down to the business of building an extension and installing bifold doors.

Simply The Nest is a brilliantly written blog, and now the house renovation appears to be gathering momentum, it’s definitely one to watch.
Penraevon
Penraevon is a beautiful Victorian building in Leeds. For the past twenty years it’s been used as an office. Now, the new owners are renovating it and turning it into a gorgeous home.
The blog includes plenty of before and after posts so you can see how each room changes and the work involved. Try the dining room, master bedroom and garden room for starters.

Kezzabeth
Kerry, aka Kezzabeth, has already completed one home renovation and is now working on her second.
This property is much larger than the first and judging by the photos on the blog, needs a lot more work doing to it. Work on the house is progressing slowly, but you can learn how they removed an old back boiler and read a summary of the previous two years worth of work here.

Little House on the Corner
Another home renovation blog from Manchester, this time run by Jan and Christine. Their journey started in 2010 when they left their city centre apartment and moved into the suburbs to renovate an unloved semi-detached house.
If you’ve ever had the ‘pleasure’ of renovating a staircase, you’ll know it’s no easy task. These guys spent 250 hours working on theirs! The result is amazing and well worth all that toil and hard work!
Great photography adds to the quality of this one.

House Number 59
Located in South London, house number 59 is the work of Charlotte and David. They bought the run-down Victorian terrace in June 2012 with the sole purpose of restoring it to its former glory. As they both work in an office by day, the work could only be undertaken whenever they the time. Usually weekends and evenings.
They’ve done a great job on the kitchen diner, but blog posts stopped in 2015, so I’m not sure if it’s the renovation that’s stopped, or the blog.

A Place to Call Home
Sometimes, when you’re renovating a house, you have to take extreme measures to achieve your dream. That’s what Jen and Ben discovered when their home became a house with no floors so they could meet the conditions of getting a mortgage.
They bought their first home in 2014 and their second in 2015. Sadly, their blog hasn’t been updated for a while either but there’s still a thing or two to learn from their posts.

Our DIY Blog
I noted at the start of this article how difficult it is to keep a home renovation blog going. It takes a lot time to upload pictures and write articles, so the creators of this blog, Ron and Kirsty, focus mainly on uploading photos of the projects and bypassing, for the most parts, wordy explanations.
Heck, there isn’t even any content on the ‘about’ page!
Great blog, though. The kitchen renovation post is a good place to start.
